Message Two
God Calling Us according to His Own Purpose
OPENING WORD OF THE PROPHESYING MEETING
Reading the verses in each day.
Reading the main points in the outlines.
Pray-reading the verses:
2 Tim. 1:9 Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace…
Eph. 3:9-11 And to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things, in order that now to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenlies the multifarious wisdom of God might be made known through the church, according to the eternal purpose which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Word of Appetizer
2 Timothy 1:9 says, “Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, …”; what is God’s purpose in calling us?
God not only saved us to enjoy His blessings, but also called us with a holy calling (a calling for a specific purpose) to accomplish His purpose. The purpose in 2 Timothy 1:9 is God’s plan according to His will to place us in Christ, to make us one with Him, to share in His life and position, so that we may be His witnesses.
The purpose of God’s salvation is for those whom He created and redeemed to receive the sonship, to have His Son’s life, to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that His Son may be the firstborn among many brothers.
Spiritual Burden
God’s eternal purpose is to dispense Himself into His chosen and redeemed people, so that they may be one with Him in life and character, only without sharing His divine nature, so that He may receive an enlarged and expanded manifestation.
God saved us and called us according to His own purpose, and now His purpose should become our purpose. God’s will for us is to know the all-inclusive Christ, to experience Him, and to live Him as our life. If we are to enter into the realization of the kingdom of the heavens in the age to come, we must carry out our Father’s will in this age.
Concluding Word of the Prophesying Meeting
The Revelation of the Truth
Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:9, “God saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose.”
God’s eternal purpose is to dispense Himself into His chosen and redeemed people, so that they may be one with Him in life and character, only without sharing His divine nature, so that He may receive an enlarged and expanded manifestation.
To live a life for the accomplishment of God’s eternal purpose, we must know and carry out God’s will.
The Experience of Life
God deals with those who love Him even to the point of loss, for the purpose is to make them fully receive Him, so that He may be manifested through them to accomplish His eternal purpose in creating man.
To carry out our Father’s will, we must enter the narrow gate and walk the narrow way. When we walk on the narrow way, we are constrained and live under a mysterious, invisible, inward governance.
Practice and Application
To live a life for the accomplishment of God’s eternal purpose, we must know and carry out God’s will. God’s will for us is to know the all-inclusive Christ, to experience Him, and to live Him as our life. In this kind of conduct that is worthy of the Lord, we are living Christ.
To carry out our Father’s will, we must enter the narrow gate and walk the narrow way. The children of the kingdom need to pray that the Father’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is to bring the kingdom of the heavens down to earth.
