Crucial Aspects of Matthew 5 Through 7
Message Three
The Prayer That Is Critical to the Kingdom Life
THE EXTRACT OF THE OUTLINES
Scripture reading:
Matt. 5:9-13 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. Blessed are you when they reproach and persecute you, and while speaking lies, say every evil thing against you because of Me. Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt has become tasteless, with what shall it be salted? It is no longer good for anything except to be cast out and trampled underfoot by men.
I. The King-Savior was a man of prayer, and He taught the disciples to pray that the church, the Father’s house, might become a house of prayer—Luke 3:21-22; 5:16; 6:12; 19:46: (Monday)
A. As a man of prayer, the Lord Jesus was always one with God, living continually in the presence of God—John 10:30; 8:29.
B. As a man of prayer, the Lord Jesus trusted in God under any hardship and persecution; Satan had nothing in the Lord Jesus as a man—1 Pet. 2:23b; John 14:30b.

II. The prayer that the Lord modeled for the disciples in Matthew 6 is a prayer that expresses God’s will—Matt. 6:9-13: (Tuesday)
A. Matthew 6:9-13 is the Lord’s teaching to us to “pray in this way” to “our Father who is in the heavens” (v. 9a); this model prayer can be divided into three parts:
1. Three basic petitions concerning God, related to the Divine Trinity: “Hallowed be Your name” is mainly related to the Father; “Your kingdom come” is mainly related to the Son; and “Your will be done on earth” is mainly related to the Spirit—vv. 9b-10a.

2. Three requests concerning our needs are prayers for protection: “Give us today our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors; and do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one”—vv. 11-13a. (Wednesday)

B. Such a critical prayer causes us to seek more the kingdom of the heavens, which is the Father’s desire, and supplies us with the needed divine supply out of grace. (Thursday)
III. If we pray according to the Lord’s teaching in Luke 11:1-13, the result will be that we pray ourselves into God—Luke 11:1-13:
———————————————————————————————————————-
A. When we pray ourselves into God, we receive His riches into our being as our supply—vv. 5-13. (Friday)
B. To pray means that we see that we are nothing and can do nothing; prayer is actually a declaration: No longer I, but Christ—Gal. 2:20.

IV. For God to hear our prayer, we must pray toward God’s interests, which are typified by the holy land, the holy city, and the holy temple—1 Kings 8:48. (Saturday)
OPENING WORD OF THE PROPHESYING MEETING
Reading the verses in each day.
Reading the main points in the outlines.
Pray-reading the verses:
You then pray in this way: Our Father who is in the heavens, Your name be sanctified, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen—Matt. 6:9-13.
Word of Appetizer
The King-Savior was a man of prayer; He was a man in the flesh, praying to the mysterious God in the divine and mysterious realm. What are the characteristics of such a prayer?
As a man of prayer, the Lord Jesus was always one with God; the Lord Jesus lived continually in the presence of God; He was never alone, for the Father was always with Him; He saw the Father’s face at every moment; under any hardship and persecution, the Lord Jesus trusted in God, not in Himself; as a man of prayer, Satan, the ruler of this world, had nothing in the Lord Jesus as a man (no ground, no chance, no hope, no possibility for anything).
Spiritual Burden
The prayer that the Lord demonstrated to the disciples in Matthew 6 is a prayer that expresses God’s will: three basic prayers concerning God, which are related to the Divine Trinity; three requests concerning our needs, which are prayers for protection; this prayer to the Father concludes with three respectful praises as a prayer of extolling.
If we want God to hear our prayers, we must pray toward God’s interests, which are signified by the holy land, the holy city, and the holy temple.
Concluding Word of the Prophesying Meeting
The Revelation of the Truth
The King-Savior was a man of prayer; He taught the disciples to pray so that the church, the Father’s house, would become a house of prayer; when the disciples saw the Lord praying, they asked Him to teach them to pray.
The prayer that the Lord demonstrated to the disciples in Matthew 6 is a prayer that expresses God’s will.
The Experience of Life
If we pray according to the Lord’s teaching in Luke 11:1-13, the result will be that we pray ourselves into God; when we pray ourselves into God, we receive His riches (represented by the bread, the fish, and the egg) into our being as our supply.
When we pray ourselves into God and receive His rich supply, which is the bountiful supply of the all-inclusive Spirit as the reality of the unsearchable riches of Christ, we will be filled and occupied with this supply so that there is no empty space within us for demons, evil spirits, or darkness.
Practice and Application
Because we are easily distracted from God, we should spend time with Him every morning to pray ourselves into Him.
Even a short prayer of calling on the Lord’s name—“O Lord Jesus!”—indicates, “It is no longer I, but Christ.”
If we want God to hear our prayers, we must pray toward God’s interests, which are signified by the holy land, the holy city, and the holy temple; regardless of whom we pray for, our prayer should be aimed at God’s interests, that is, at Christ and the church—God’s interests on the earth for the accomplishment of His economy.
PROPHESYING TOPICS—TWELVE TOPICS PER WEEK
Day 1
T1 The Lord Lived as a Man of Prayer (Matt. 14:23; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16)
(Please illustrate with scriptures that the Lord Jesus often went up to the mountain or withdrew to a secret place to pray.)
T2 We May Be Seekers of Christ, but We May Not Be One with God (John 10:30; 8:29)
(Please illustrate that the Lord Jesus was a man of prayer, a man who was one with God.)
Day 2
T1 The Prayer in Matthew 6 Is a Prayer of Warfare (Matt. 6:9-10)
(Please illustrate how the prayer in Matthew 6 differs from the prayer taught in the Gospel of John.)
T2 In Matthew 6:9-13, We See a Model of Prayer (Matt. 6:9-13)
(Please illustrate how the first three petitions in the model of prayer shown by the Lord imply the Trinity of the Godhead.)
Day 3
T1 In His Prayer, the Lord Cared for Our Daily Needs (Matt. 6:11-13)
(Please illustrate that this model prayer of the Lord first cares for God’s name, God’s kingdom, and God’s will, and only then for our needs.)
T2 Clearing Away Any Factor of Separation between Us and God, and between Us and Others (Matt. 6:11-13)
(Please illustrate how in the Lord’s prayer we can see that we need to care for our relationships with others.)
Day 4
T1 In the Prayer He Taught, the Lord Began with God the Father and Also Ended with God the Father (Matt. 6:13)
(Please illustrate that the Lord’s prayer to the Father ends with knowing and praising God’s kingdom, power, and glory, and also speaks of the Triune God.)
T2 The Meaning of Prayer Is to Pray Ourselves into God (Luke 11:1)
(Please illustrate from experience that we are easily distracted from God, so we should spend time to be with Him and pray ourselves into Him.)
Day 5
T1 When We Pray Ourselves into God, We Can Receive His Riches as Our Supply (Luke 11:11-13)
(Please illustrate where in Luke 11:1-13 we can see the matter of receiving the life supply from the Father.)
T2 The Prayer That Brings Us into God Is the Proper Prayer (Luke 11:11-13; John 20:22)
(Please illustrate that the governing principle of our prayer should be that prayer always brings us into God.)
Day 6
T1 Daniel Earnestly Sought the Lord God in Prayer and Prayed with Fasting (Dan. 6:10)
(Please illustrate what the way was to receive the vision of the seventy weeks in Daniel 9:3-23.)
T2 Our Prayer Should Be Aligned with God’s Interest, Which Is Christ and the Church—God’s Interest on Earth (1 Kings 8:48; Dan. 6:10)
(Please illustrate that no matter for whom we pray, our prayer should be aligned with His interest in His economy.)
